How I Met Your Mother - Alternative ending leaked

A estas alturas poca gente quedará que no sepa que se ha filtrado el final alternativo de How I Met Your Mother, pero para esos pocos rezagados, ¡aquí estoy para ayudaros! El final iba a salir con el DVD de la última temporada, pero como suele pasar en estos casos, se ha filtrado antes de tiempo. 

I seriously doubt there is anyone that doesn't know that the alternative ending of How I Met Your Mother has leaked, but for those people, here I am to help you out! The ending was supposed to be included in the DVD of the last season, but as it usually happens, somehow it got leaked before. 



Como veis, este nuevo final elimina de la historia el divorcio de Barney y Robin, la muerte de la madre y, por supuesto, la idea de que la persona que siempre ha querido Ted fue Robin, y que la madre era otro de los muchos pasos que tuvo que dar para dar con The One. Por si os interesa, ya me explayé en su momento en esta entrada acerca del final de la serie. 

As you can see, in this new finale there isn't any divorce of Barney and Robin, the mother doesn't die and, of course, Robin doesn't become the person that Ted has always loved and the mother doesn't become just another step to reach The One. If you are interested, I already wrote about all this in a post a few months ago. 

No os voy a negar que el final alternativo es el final "fácil", que no habría sorprendido a nadie si hubiera acabado así y que a lo mejor nadie habría tenido una sola discusión acerca de qué significaba el final. Pero HIMYM es, o debería ser, una comedia, no un drama al estilo Grey's Anatomy con muerte de sus personajes principales en cada season finale. Este es un final que no le da una patada en la boca a The Mother, coherente con la serie y su historia, emotivo y a la vez alegre. Lástima que no sea el verdadero. 

I am not going to deny you that the alternative ending is the "easy" one, that it wouldn't have surprised anyone and that maybe no one would have spend hours discussing about what it meant. But HIMYM is, or it is supposed to be, a comedy, not a drama where everybody dies as Grey's Anatomy. This ending doesn't kick the mother in the ass, it is coherent with the series and the story, it's emotive and happy at the same time. What a shame it isn't the real one, right?

How I Met Your Mother - Cristin Milioti had no clue

Todos llevamos años oyendo hablar de la famosa "The Mother" hasta el punto de que se han hecho mil teorías de quién sería o cómo sería en todo internet. Pero si había alguien que no había oído nunca hablar de esa tal "The One", esa era ella misma, Cristin Millioti, la actriz que da vida a la futura señora Mosby. La actriz ha admitido que aceptó el papel sin tener ni idea de quién era y que no había visto ni un solo capítulo de HIMYM. En septiembre se vio todas las temporadas, y cuando vio la expectación que su personaje había creado a lo largo de los años pensó "OMG! What have I done?". 

We have all being hearing about the famous "The Mother" till the point that internet is full with theories about who would be and how would she be. But if there was someone in all the earth that had no clue about who "The One" was, it was herself. Cristin Milioti, the actress that plays the future Ms. Mosby, has admitted that when she accepted the role she had no clue who the character was and hadn't watched even one episode on HIMYM. She watched all the series in September, and when she realized the importance of her character she though "OMG! What have I done?!".

Y llegamos a la cena de ensayo. A pocas horas de la ceremonia, nuestros protagonistas se reúnen para hartarse de bebida y comida en lo que será el preludio a la cena original. Y como es How I Met, no nos extraña que algo tan simple se convierta en toda una locura. Hemos tenido sus más y sus menos, pero todos estaremos de acuerdo en que Barney nos la ha vuelto a colar, y eso nos encanta.

How I Met Your Mother - Mom and Dad / Bedtime Stories

Tras dejar a un lado el buen episodio que fue "Platonish" nos vamos directos de vuelta a la boda del año en Farhampton Inn. ¿Y qué puede causar más expectación que un capítulo titulado "Mom and dad"? ¿Quizás íbamos a disfrutar de un flashworward con los hijos de Ted como narradores? Pues no. Espero no haber sido el único que se creó esas expectativas al conocer el título… Como casi siempre la navaja de Ockham tiene razón y la respuesta más sencilla suele ser la correcta, por lo que encontrándonos en una temporada en la que Barney y Robin poseen bastante protagonismo, no era de extrañar que hiciera referencia a los padres del rubio. Por otro lado llegamos a ese episodio tan comentado por su planteamiento en verso, ¿realmente ha sido un capítulo para el recuerdo o nos ha podido  su originalidad narrativa? Vamos a por ello.

¿Platonish? Pues si. Se que faltan pocas horas para que emitan "Bedtime Stories" y que tampoco he comentado nada de "Mom and Dad"… pero si recordáis mi última entrada no os extrañará saber que vi "Platonish" hace unos pocos días. Y es que tras la decepcionante pedida de mano de Ted me entraron ganas de tomarme un descanso. Sorpresa la mía cuando un amigo me comentó que "Platonish" había sido un buen episodio, uno como los de siempre. Esa misma noche, de madrugada, encendí el ordenador y me dispuse a valorar por mi mismo la opinión de mi colega. Va a ser verdad eso de que "tras la tormenta llega la calma", ya que por un intervalo de 20 minutos conseguí dejar a un lado Farhampton Inn para sentarme a tomar una copa en nuestro querido MacLaren's.
