If you ask, people will tell you that Girls is the biggest winner of the Golden Gloves, and it was just because of this reason why I started watching it. The creator, writer, director and main actress, Lena Dunham, describes herself in the first season as the "voice of her generation". Is she? Well, believe it or not, I've asking myself that question for a few days now.
I really loved the first season, full of hilarant phrases that made me stop the video so I could laugh as it deserved. Hannah and her "sisters" describe the other side of New York, the one we never saw in Sex and the City. Crummy discos, the difficulty of renting a flat not even in NY but in Brooklyn, the problem of being virgin at 22, etc. She has the ability of represent real life in her episodes, which is something that makes Lena unique.
But... what the hell happened with the second season? That's what I cannot stop thinking every time I see an episode. It has become bored and the situations meaningless. Lena has been awarded for her inventiveness, and it seems that it has gone to her head and has started to make surrealistic sutuations for her character. Taking cocaine, spend a whole weekend (and episode) having sex with an unknown forty years old guy, fight with everyone that doesn't agree with her... 'Cause of couse, she doesn't give a fuck about anything or anyone.

A lot of people describe Lena as brave for being able to show herself completely naked in the series, and to tell everyone her traumas and problems when she was an adolescent. I might have thought the same way when I started to watch Girls, but now I realize that Lena - or Hannah, 'cause I believe is the same exact person - is just a girl - very wity, okay - who got the opportunity of her life and now has become egocentric and really believed she is the "voice of her generation". Each episode is just another way of being naked on screen, so when the scene is over she can cover herself and everyone will say to her "You are really brave, Hannah". Well, fuck off. She has no need of doing it. Once is okay, but I believe I have never seen a character so many times naked on tv (and I watch Californication).
So what I wanted to say is that I loved the first season of Girls, but I'm not liking at all this one. I don't buy that shit of "what a brave girl Hannah is", and she gotta change how the season is going, 'cause I don't think I'm gonna finish it if it keeps like this!
And once again, I remind you that the 5th round of the Whatever Awards has began. I need more votes than ever, so please, vote! And in drama as well as in comedy, 'cause I don't know how you do that you just vote in one of them!
