When a pilot from the HBO is announced we shouldn't have any doubts: just watch it, it will be awesome. But if they also tell us that Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter (director and writer of Boardwalk Empire) are the ones at the head of it and that they have managed to partnership with Mick Jagger... What the hell are you waiting for?
History of Music is the new series of HBO, which will have as main characters two friends during their 40 years in the music business, since the beggining of the R&B till the modern hip-hop. The drama hourlong episodes (as always in the worthy series of HBO) will be set in 1977 in New York City.
And if after all this you aren't convinced yet (you must be crazy), there's still more. Who else to lead the series that Bobby Cannavale himself. The actor that became famous after his atonishing work in the third season of Boardwalk Empire will play Richie Finestra, the boss of A&R in the American Century Music.
At the same time, Showtime is producing its own version of the story. This, titled Vinyl, will tell us the story of the music business from the perspective of the record executives and the rock stars, obviously with drugs and prostitutes on the top of it. Will Showtime be able to beat one of the bigs as HBO is?
