Good morning my beloved Whateverians. September has come back and so have I. I'm willing to catch up with all the news in the series' world (cause who cares what's going on in the real world, right?), so I have work for today. What if we get started with GoT?
A principios de junio nos encontrábamos disfrutando del último episodio de Juego de Tronos, Mhysa, y no han esperado mucho para dar comienzo al rodaje de la tan ansiada cuarta temporada. Agosto fue el mes elegido para desplazar a gran parte del reparto a Islandia, y como no es de extrañar se han unido nuevos actores. Por ahora solamente conocemos la aparición de cuatro nuevos personajes: Obery Martell, Ellaria Sand, Mace Tyrell y Styr. Parecen pocos… pero van a tener un gran peso en la trama. Para los que no os hayáis leído los libros voy a hablaros un poquito de quienes son (sin spoilers, prometido, solo su historia).
The last episode of Game of Thrones, Mysha, was broadcasted at the beginning of June, and they haven't waited much before the start of the filming of the fourth season. August was the month chooses to move the actors to Island, and new actors have incorporate to the casting. Right now we only know the incorporation of four new characters: Obery Martell, Ellaria Sand, Mace Tyrell and Styr. They are just a few, but they are gonna be quite important. For those of you who haven't read the books, here's a little bit of background (zero spoilers, just history, I promise!)
Dorne. Una gran península que compone la región más sureña de Westeros. A muchos os sonará por el vino Dorniense que tanto beben nuestros protagonistas, pero no es solo la manera preferida de Cersei de pasar el tiempo. Hablamos del Reino de Dorne, liderada por la familia Martell, “Nunca doblegado, Nunca roto”, el último en caer tras el desembarco de Aegon Targaryen “El Conquistador”. Su lema les hace justicia, ya que la casa Targaryen únicamente pudo conseguir su anexión mediante una boda, a diferencia de los otros seis reinos. Dos de las incorporaciones al reparto pertenecen a la Casa Martell, la cual gobierna Dorne desde la capital Sunspear. Estas dos incorporaciones son Oberyn Martell y su amante Ellaria Sand.Dorne. A huge peninsula in the south part of Westeros. Many of you might know the area because of the Dornish wine that our beloved characters love to drink, but it isn't only Cersei's favorite way of having fun. We talk about the reign of Dorne, the last to fall after the Landing of Aegon Targaryen the Conqueror. Their words are "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" and they are led by House Martell from Sunspear. Two of those incorporations are from this family, Oberyn Martell and his lover Ellaria Sand.
¿Os estáis perdiendo? Si es que Westeros tiene más historia que toda Europa junta. A ver, os explico. El príncipe Oberyn Nymeros Martell, conocido como la Víbora Roja, es el hermano menor del actual príncipe regente de Dorne, Doran Martell. Oberyn acudirá como invitado a la boda entre el Rey Joffrey Baratheon y Margaery Tyrell. Hasta aquí todo parece muy normal, pero claro, eso no es lo que suele pasar en algo que ha escrito George R. R. Martin.
Are you lost? Well, Westeros does have more history than all Europe together. Well, let me explain. The prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell, better known as the Red Viper, is the younger brother of the actual prince regent of Dorne, Doran Martell. Oberyn will go as a guest to the wedding between King Joffrey Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell. Till here all seems normal, but of course, that's not what usually happens in something that has being written by George R. R. Martin.
La llegada de la Casa Baratheon al Trono de Hierro supuso una gran pérdida para él. Su hermana, Elia Martell, contrajo matrimonio con el príncipe Rhaegar Targaryen, hijo del Rey Loco, Aerys Targaryen. Durante los acontecimientos del Saqueo de Desembarco del Rey, llevados a cabo por Tywin Lannister, Elia y sus hijos fueron brutalmente asesinados para acabar con toda la estirpe Targaryen. Por ello a nuestra Víbora Roja le acompaña desde Dorne el sentimiento de justicia y venganza, confiando que el Trono de Hierro le entregue al asesino de sus familiares. Como podéis ver es un personaje que va a dar mucho juego en esta temporada, ya que no solo está muy bien elaborado, sino que nos presenta geografía desconocida de Westeros, y nos dosifica toda esa apasionante historia sobre la Rebelión de Robert Baratheon .
The arrival of House Baratheon to the Iron Throne meant a huge lost to him. His sister, Elia Martell, got married with the prince Rhaegar Targaryen, son of the Mad King, Aerys Targaryen. During the looting of King's Landing ordered by Tywin Lannister, Elia and his sons were brutally killed to eliminate all Targaryen. That's why the Red Viper comes to King's Landing with the feeling of justice and revenge, hoping that the Iron Throne gives him the killer of his family. As you can imagine he's going to be a very important character in the story, since he introduces us the reign of Dorne and tells us about Robert Baratheon's rebellion.
El príncipe Oberyn Nymeros Martell será interpretado por el actor de origen chileno Pedro Pascal, y la actriz británica Indira Varma dará su rostro a Ellaria Sand, amante de Oberyn. Es madre de cuatro de las conocidas como “serpientes de arena”, hijas bastardas de Oberyn Martell.
The prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell will be played by Pedro Pascal, and the british actrice Indira Varma will play Ellaria Sand, the lover of Oberyn. She is the mother of four of the known "snake sands", bastard daughters of Oberyn Martell.
Otro de los invitados a la gran boda planeada para el transcurso de la próxima temporada es Mace Tyrell, el padre de la prometida. Quién sino iba a acompañar a Margaery frente a los siete. El actor elegido para interpretar al Señor de Highgarden ha sido Roger Ashton-Griffiths, conocido por papeles en series como Los Tudor o Torchwood. Cersei se encontrará cada vez más incómoda con la llegada de más Rosas a la capital, ya que como sabemos no siente mucho aprecio tanto por su futura nuera como por su Casa.
Other of the guests to the big wedding is Mace Tyrell, the father of the fiancee. Who else would walk Margaery to Joffrey. The actor chosen to play the Lord of Highgarden is Roger Aston-Griffiths, known for roles in The Tudors and Torchwood. Cersei will have to deal with many Roses in the capital, since as we know she's not very fond of them.
La última incorporación procede directamente de Más allá del Muro. Dará vida a Styr, el Magnar de Thenn. Salvaje (u hombre del Pueblo Libre, según el lado del Muro en el que hayas nacido) aliado de Mance Rayder. Para los lectores debió aparecer en la anterior temporada, ya que es el cabecilla del grupo con el que Jon escala el Muro, pero no me cabe duda de que los guionistas sabrán recolocarlo bien para el año que viene.
The last incorporation comes directly from Beyond the Wall. He will be playing the role of Styr, the Magnar of Thenn. A savage (or man of the Free Folk, depends on the side of the Wall) is an ally of Mance Rayder. In the books he appeared when Jon scaled the Wall.
La última noticia más que sumar un nuevo personaje a la lista, es un intercambio de actores. Así es, no me gustan para nada estas modificaciones de casting, pero quiero pensar que no había otra alternativa. The Hollywood Reporter ha confirmado que Michiel Huisman será el encargado de colocarse la armadura del capitán de la compañía mercenaria "Second Sons".
The last news more than add a character changes another. Well, I don't like this modification of the cast, but I would like to think that there wasn't any other possibility. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Michiel Hiusman will be the one to play the role of the captain of the Second Sons.
A todos se nos ha quedado grabado a fuego el instante en el que la Daenerys se agencia todo un ejercito de Inmaculados tras un potente "Dracarys". Pero no debemos olvidar tampoco que a última hora un atractivo mercenario queda prendado de ella, uniendo a los "Second Sons" a su causa. Hablamos de Daario Naaris, a quién Ed Skrein dio vida durante la tercera temporada. Sin confirmación oficial de HBO, a día de hoy podemos decir que Ed Skrein le cederá el testigo a Michiel Huisman en el papel de Daario. Os informaré de cualquier movimiento que haga la HBO al respecto.
We all remember when Daenerys won all the army with the shout of "Dracarys". But we shouldn't forget that at the end she allies with a hot mercenary who joins the Second Sons to her cause. We are talking about Daario Naaris, who was played by Ed Skrein during the third season. Without the official confirmation of HBO, we are almost certain that Michiel Huisman will sustitute Ed Skrein in the role of Daario. I'll inform you of any changes of the HBO.
La otra modificación de actor es la Montaña, ser Gregor Clegane, quién por tercera vez cambiará de rostro. Pasará a ser interpretado por Hafthor Julius Bjornsson - imposible de pronunciar -, de procedencia islandesa.
The other modification is the actor who plays the Mountain, ser Gregor Clegane, who will change his face for a third time. We will be played by Hafthor Julius Bjornsson - impossible to pronounce -, from Iceland.
El "actor" carece de carrera en el mundo cinematográfico, y si os preguntáis por qué lo han escogido sólo tenéis que buscarlo en Google. Mide 2.06 metros, y es, literalmente, un armario empotrado. Durante tres años consiguió en títulos "El hombre más fuerte de Islandia", y es el tercer hombre más fuerte del mundo.
The "actor" doesn't have experience in the tv, and in case you wonder why he was chosen just google him. He's 2.06 meters and he's huge. During the years he won the title "Iceland's strongest man" and he's the third strongest man of the world.
Claramente cumple con los requisitos, y es por ellos que lo han aceptado desde HBO. Para disimular el cambio de personaje y la diferencia de edad con su hermano (el actor es 20 años más joven) la mayor parte del rodaje esconderá su rostro bajo un casco. La pregunta es, ¿cómo van a esconder el fuerte acento de Islandia que intenta ocultar sin éxito tras cada palabra en inglés?
Now you know who he got the role. He's much younger than he should be (the actor that plays his brother is 20 years older and should be younger), so he will almost hide his face under the helmet. The question is, how is he gonna hide his strong accent from Iceland?
