Hemos tenido una semana de parón sin nuestra serie favorita, la cual ha acabado convirtiéndose en una auténtica tortura esperando el desenlace de la batalla de Oberyn contra the Mountain. Pero por fin llegó el capítulo y ahora podemos decir que la espera ha merecido la pena. La última temporada de Game of Thrones está haciendo de la tarea de no comerse spoilers un auténtico deporte de riesgo, así que os voy a ayudar un poco: si no habéis visto el capítulo, ¡ni se os ocurra darle a "keep reading"!
We have had one week without our beloved series, and waiting for Oberyn and the Mountain's fight was a complete torture. But the episode arrived at last and now we can say that the wait was worthy. Escaping from spoilers is harder everyday, so I'm going to try to help you a little bit: if you haven't watched last episode, don't press "keep reading"!
Aunque los de HBO nos hayan hecho esperar hasta el final del episodio para verlo, yo no voy a ser tan cruel. La muerte que es ya considerada como la más brutal de todo Game of Thrones - que ya es decir - se nos ha clavado a todos en la retina. La diferencia de tamaño entre Oberyn y the Mountain era bastante preocupante, pero todos nos hemos relajado un poco cuando hemos visto al dorniense bailar al lado de este, dando piruetas y saltando como si no se estuviera jugando la vida.
Eventhough the guys from HBO have made us wait all the damned episode to see it, I'm not going to be that cruel. Oberyn's death is already considered as the most brutal of all the series - which is saying a LOT -. The size difference between both characters was quite concerning, but we all relaxed a little bit after seeing him dancing and jumping besides the Mountain as if he wasn't risking his life.
Después de que Oberyn consiguiera tirar a the Mountain hasta Tyrion se ha relajado - y Cersei empezaba a cabrearse -, pero por desgracia a Oberyn no le interesaba sólo matarlo, sino que confesara haber violado y matado a su hermana Elia Martell. Oberyn acaba consiguiendo su confesión, pero seguramente no de la manera que esperaba. En un segundo y a pesar de sus heridas, the Mountain tira a Oberyn y le muestra lo que le hizo a su hermana: le aprieta las cuencas de los ojos hasta que literalmente hace explotar su cabeza.
After Oberyn managed to make the Mountain fall even Tyrion was relaxed - and Cersei was starting to get angry -, but sadly Oberyn didn't only want to kill him, but to hear him confess that he had killed and raped his sister Elia Martell. In just one second and despite his injures, the Mountain attacks Oberyn and shows him what he did to his sister: he pushes his eyes till he literally explotes his head.
Creo que hace falta poca descripción de la escena, especialmente porque dudo que a ninguno de vosotros se os haya olvidado ni un detalle (si conseguisteis no cerrar los ojos, claro). Es tan desagradable que hasta el propio Tyrion vomita tras presenciarlo (en los libros, no en la serie), y Cersei es la única capaz de mantener una sonrisa en la cara.
I believe no explanation is needed of the scene, since I'm sure none of you was able to forget any detail (if you managed to keep your eyes open, of course). It is so disgusting that even Tyrion throws up while watching it (in the books, not in the series) and Cersei is the only one able to have a smile in her face during it.
La escena en su conjunto es simplemente perfecta, desde la escena de Tyrion con Jaime - ¿de qué hablas con el único miembro de tu familia que te sigue teniendo aprecio mientras esperas a que suenen las campanadas de tu juicio final? - hasta la muerte de Oberyn. La evolución de la expresión en la cara de cada uno de los Lannister es para enmarcarlo en un cuadro.
The scene is just perfect, from the conversation between Tyrion and Jaime - what can you talk about with the only person that still cares about you while you wait to hear the bells of your final trial? - to Oberyn's death. The evolution in the expression of each Lannisters is just awesome, I'd love to have it in a poster.
Y ahora, ¿qué será de Tyrion? Twyin no espera ni lo más mínimo después de que muera Oberyn para anunciar la sentencia de muerte de su hijo. Todos sabemos el poco cariño que le tiene George R. R. Martin a sus personajes y a la salud mental de los fans de la saga, pero Tyrion... Tyrion es Tyrion... ¿no? Por desgracia, aún no podemos saberlo - y probablemente no salga en el capítulo de la semana que viene -, así que dedicad estas dos semanas a rezar por el pobre que le va a hacer falta.
And now, what happens with Tyrion? Twyin doesn't wait even one second before announcing that his son is sentenced to death after Oberyn's death. We all know how little George R. R. Martin cares about his characters and his fans' mental health, but Tyrion... Tyrion is Tyrion... right? Unluckily for us, we won't know it probably after the last episode of the season, so use this two weeks to pray for poor Tyrion 'cause he's going to need it!
Después de esto puede pareceros que el resto del capítulo carece de importancia, pero no es así en absoluto. Los de HBO se las han apañado para hacerlo interesante de principio a fin, no centrándose únicamente en el cacho final que sabían que venía.
After this it might seem that the rest of the episode has no importance at all, but it's not like that. The guys from HBO have managed to make the episode interesting from tail to nose.
Lo siguiente quizás más impactante es la traición de Jorah a Daenerys. Aunque nos lo habían mencionado alguna vez en la serie, Dany no tenía ni la más mínima idea. Aquí actúa como una auténtica khalessi, exiliando al que creía su amigo para evitar tener que cortarle la cabeza. Y aunque todos sabemos que la ha traicionado, nos duele que lo eche de esta manera. Sólo hay que mirarlo a la cara para darte cuenta de lo arrepentido que está. ¡Que alguien le de un abrazo, por R'hllor!
The next thing more shocking might be Jorah's treason to Daenerys. Even though we had heard it before in the series, Dany had no clue. Here she behaves as a true khalessi, exiling the one who she though her friend to avoid having him beheaded. And despite the fact that he has treason her, we are all sad that he's leaving. You only have to look at him to see how much regretful he feels. Please, some one hug him, for R'hllor's sake!
La historia en el Valle (the Eyrie) parece una auténtica telenovela. Littlefinger, después de haberle jurado varias veces a Lysa lo mucho que la amaba y casarse con ella, la tira a través de la Moon Door. Y claro, que se hayan casado y que a los dos días ella esté muerta es cuanto menos sospechoso. Así que los señores del reino vienen a escuchar la defensa de este y de su sobrina Alayne.
The Eyrie's story seems a real soap opera. Littlefinger, after marrying Lysa and promising her eternal love, throws her out of the Moon Door. It is quite suspicious that she has died a couple of days after their wedding, and the other lords from the reign think just alike, so they arrive to the castle to hear his defense and his nephew's.
No se vosotros, pero yo me he quedado de plástico cuando Sansa se ha identificado como una Stark y ha contado la verdad de la historia (bueno, salvo el pequeño detalle en el que Lysa fue empujada y no se suicidó), más que nada porque eso no es lo que pasa en los libros (sí, otra vez). Todos han quedado satisfechos con su historia, y la última imagen que vemos de ella es con el pelo teñido de negro y unas pintas que parecen más propias de Melissandre que de una señorita como Sansa. Vamos, que la miradita de Littlefinger lo dice todo.
I don't know about you, but I was completely shocked when I heard Sansa identifying herself as a Stark and telling the truth of the story (well, except that little detail of Lysa being thrown and not suiciding herself), specially since that doesn't happen in the books (yes, again). Everyone is satisfied with her story, and the last scene we see is her with the hair black and clothes that seem to have gone out of Melissandre's wardrobe that from this lady that Sansa was. Littlefinger's looks says it all.
Al otro lado de las puertas, Arya espera con the Hound para reunirse por fin con la única familia que le queda: su tía Lysa. Al recibir la notica de que murió hace tres días, esta se parte de la risa. Se que ha habido muchas críticas acerca de la reacción de Arya, pero a mi me parece perfecta. Haga lo que haga, todo le sale mal. Ya solo le quedaba reír o echarse a llorar, y Arya se está convirtiendo en una auténtica luchadora, por lo que dudo que vayamos a verla llorar en un futuro próximo. La pregunta es ¿se darán la vuelta desesperados o querrán pasar con Littlefinger y se encontrará con su hermana?
At the other side of the gates, Arya is waiting with the Hound to reunite will the only family she has left: her aunt Lysa. After hearing the news of her being dead for only three days, she can't do anything but laugh. I know there has been some critics about her reaction, but I think it's just perfect. Everything she tries ends up badly, and she has only to options left: to cry or to laugh, and she has become such a survivor I seriously doubt we are going to see her crying any time soon. And the question is, is she going to turn around or is she going to enter in the castle with Littlefinger and her sister?
En cuanto al Muro, las cosas se están poniendo bastante feas. Los salvajes están literalmente a las puertas, ¿cómo defiendes Castle Black con 103 Black Brothers de 100.000 salvajes? Y que no se os olvide que tienen gigantes. ¡Gigantes! Pues eso, que está jodido.
Thing are quite ugly at the Wall. The wildings are literally at their door, and how can you defend Castle Black with 103 Black Brothers against 100.000 wilding? And don't forget about the giants. Giants! As I said, it's quite ugly.
Por último, tenemos a Theon Greyjoy ("Reek, Reek, my name is Reek") intentando hacerse pasar por un hombre hecho y derecho capaz de conquistar Moat Cailin. Ha tenido suerte de que los hombres de las islas de Hierro sean tan traicioneros como los Frey, porque si llega a volver con las manos vacías Ramsay se lo habría comido vivo. Por suerte, vuelve con Moat Cailin, lo cual le consigue a Ramsay que deje de ser un Snow (un simple bastardo) y pase a ser un Bolton (y con ello el hijo legítimo de su padre).
Finally, we have Theon Greyjoy ("Reek, Reek, my name is Reek") trying to look like the man he no longer is to conquer Moat Cailin. He has been lucky that the Iron Men are just as treacherous as any Frey, 'cause if he had returned with his hands empty Ramsay would have eaten him alive. But he returned with Moat Cailin and Ramsay stops being a Snow (just a bastard) to become a real Bolton (and with that the legit son of his father).
Para terminar, deciros a los lectores de los libros que el capítulo en general está bastante bien conseguido. La escena de Oberyn y the Mountain es casi idéntica que como ocurre en el libro (aunque a alguno le haya faltado la frase de "If you die before you say her name, ser, I will hunt you through the Seven Hells"), al igual que la de Theon. Es cierto que la parte de Arya se la han inventado, pero personalmente a mi me ha gustado (siempre y cuando en el próximo capítulo se den la vuelta y no entren bajo ningún concepto en el castillo). Lógicamente, la historia de Sansa y Littlefinger la han tenido que acortar, porque realmente qué sentido tenía mantener la investigación de la muerte de Lysa cuando podía Sansa dar su propia versión.
For those of you that have read the book, the episode in general is quite accurate to it. Oberyn and the Mountain's scene is almost identical as in the books (even though some of us have missed the sentence of "If you die before you say her name, ser, I will hunt you through the Seven Hells"), as well as Theon's. It is true that Arya's part is invented, but I really liked it (let's hope she turns around and goes and doesn't enter the castle). Logically, Sansa and Littlefinger's story was shortened cause it had no sense to spend any episode with the investigation of Lysa's death.
Como conclusión, el capítulo ha sido excelente, es alucinante como esta serie se supera cada semana. La muerte de Oberyn ha sido tan bestial como era descrita en los libros, y lo que más lamento de todo es perder a un personaje tan genial como era este. Por suerte, esto nos servirá de introducción del reino de Dorne, que como todos sabemos es posible que se ruede en Andalucía la próxima temporada. Cabe destacar las cacho actuaciones de Tyrion, Oberyn y Sansa en este capítulo, que son para quitarse el sombrero.
As a conclusion, the episode has been excellent, it's amazing how this series improves after every damned episode. Oberyn's death was as brutal as it was in the books, and the thing I regret the most is losing a character as awesome as he was. Luckily, he was the introduction of the reign of Dorne, which might be filmed as you all know in Spain for next season. Also, I wanted to say that Tyrion, Oberyn and Sansa's performances where outstanding this episode.
