Game of Thrones - 4x01 "Two Swords"

¡Ha vuelto! ¡Por fin! Después de tanta espera, Game of Thrones ha llegado. El pasado 6 de abril se emitió la premiere de la cuarta temporada de GoT, la cual superó en audiencias a la series finale de Los Soprano (que ya es decir), convirtiéndose así en el episodio más visto de la historia de HBO. Si estabas tan histérico por saber qué iba a pasar en Westeros como yo, ¡sigue leyendo!

It's back! Finally! After such a long wait, Game of Thrones has started. The last 6th of April the premiere of the fourth season of GoT was broadcasted. It had a biggest audience than the series finale of The Sopranos (which is A LOT), becoming the most watched episode of the history of HBO. If you were as anxious as I was to know what was going to happen in Westeros, keep reading!

Primer capítulo, como viene siendo costumbre, a modo de presentación. Twyin Lannister comienza fundiendo Ice, la espada que perteneció a Eddard Stark, dejando bastante claro que considera a los herederos de Winterfell eliminados de su camino. De ella, salen dos espadas, una de las cuales irá para su hijo Jaime.

First episode and, as usually, a presentation of the season. Twyin Lannister begins by melting Ice, the sword that belonged to Eddard Stark, making it pretty obvious that he consideres the heirs of Winterfell erased from his way. From Ice he makes two swords, one of them to his son Jaime. 

Por fin notamos un pequeño cambio en el gemelo "bueno" de los dos. El largo viaje con Brienne le ha cambiado, y a pesar de toda la fama que se ha ido ganando durante años, no está dispuesto a seguir rompiendo votos. Y con estas y su nueva mano de oro decide que seguirá defendiendo al rey al mando de la Kingsguard - a pesar de que Joffrey no esté muy de acuerdo -.

We can finally sense some kind of change in the "good" twin. The long journey with Brienne has changed him, and despite all the fame he has gained with the years, he's not going to break another vow. And with this and his new golden hand he decides that he will keep on defending the king at the head of the Kingsguard - despite the king himself doesn't really want him there -.

En cuanto al otro gemelo - o gemela mejor dicho -, sigue siendo igual de fría que siempre pero con un par de vasos más de vino de lo normal. Cersei culpa a Jaime de haber permanecido capturado tanto tiempo y de haberla abandonado. Ni Jaime ni nosotros nos podemos creer lo que sale de la boca de esta zorra mujer. 

The bad twin, on the other hand, is as cold as ever but with a couple of glasses of wine more than usual. Cersei blames Jaime of leaving her behind and that she was abandoned when he was kept a prisoner for so long. Neither Jaime nor us can believe what this bitch woman is saying. 

En esta temporada tendremos la introducción del reino de Dorne, que hasta el momento no había salido a la luz. El príncipe Oberyn deja las cosas claras: "The Lannisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts". Y no es para menos: años atrás, su hermana Elia se casó con Rhaegar Targaryen, quién huyo (o raptó según las fuentes oficiales) a Lyanna Stark (sí, la hermana de Eddard). Robert Baratheon - que estaba coladito por los huesos de la chiquilla - la lió y de ahí surgió la llamada Rebelión de Robert, que acabó con el saqueo de King's Landing, con la violación y muerte de Elia y sus dos hijos a manos de The Mountain - y obviamente indicado por Twyin Lannister -.


In this season we will have the introduction of Dorne, a reign that hadn't appeared before in the series. The prince Oberyn is quite straight with it: "The Lannisters aren't the only ones who pay their debts". And you can't wonder why: years before, his sister Elia got married with Rhaegar Targaryen, who escaped with (or captured if you believe the official story) Lyanna Stark (yes, Eddard's sister). Robert Baratheon - who was completely in love with her - freaked out and started the so called Robert's Rebellion, which ended with the Sack of King's Landing and the rape and murder of Elia and her two children by The Mountain - who obviously received the orders from Twyin Lannister -.

Vamos, que de buenas no ha venido a la capital. Su desprecio por los Lannisters queda bastante palpable cuando está dispuesto a cargarse a dos por estar cantando la fatídica "Rains of Castamere" en un burdel. Y si eso no nos lo dejó claro, a Tyrion se lo aclaró bastante. Vamos a tener una boda movidita, me parece a mí. 

Okay, he hasn't come to party exactly to the capital. His hate for the Lannister is quite obvious when he almost kill two of them while they are singing the horrible "Rains of Castamere" in the brothel. And if that isn't enough, well, he actually threatened Tyrion. What a funny wedding we are going to have!

Hablando de bodas, ¿y la pareja del año? Sansa y Tyrion están más unidos que nunca... ¡Han hablado al menos tres minutos seguidos! Tyrion no puede controlar a su esposa, y menos aún a su amante, a la que descubre la espía de Cersei - veremos qué trama esta ahora -. En cuanto a Sansa, busca consuelo en el godswood de King's Landing, aunque quizás lo que ha encontrado sea un amigo en Ser Dontos que le regala joyas con un valor bastante especial...

And talking about wedding, what about the couple of the year? Tyrion and Sansa are as close as ever... I believe they talked for three straight minutes! Tyrion isn't able to controle his wife, but neither his lover, who Cersei's spy discover - we will see what she's about to now -. Sansa is looking for some relief in the godswood, but instead she finds herself a new friend called Ser Dontos, who gives her jewelry that has such a special value...

En el Norte, nuestro querido bastardo está siendo juzgado por traicionar a la Night's Watch, pero todos sabemos que Jon lo único que quiere es defender el Muro - y tirarse a Ygritte-you-know-nothing, claro -. Esperemos que le hagan caso, ya que al otro lado nos encontramos con los Thenn por primera vez, los más salvajes de los salvajes, y no parece que tengan mucha amistad con los del "sur". 

In the North, our beloved bastard is being judged for treason agains the Night's Watch, but we all know that Jon just wants to defend the Wall - well, and fuck Ygritte-you-know-nothing, of course -. Let's hope they listen to him, cause we have just met the Thenns at the other side of the Wall, the wildings of the wildings, and they don't seem to appreciate the lives of the Night's Watch brothers. 

Al otro lado del mundo nos encontramos con Daenerys y sus "cariñosos" dragones. ¿Se dará cuenta de que ya no son tan fáciles de domesticar? La tarea de la khalessi es más dificil que nunca: de camino a Meereen le esperan 163 millas con 163 esclavos crucificados. Por suerte tiene a Daario Naharis y a Grey Worm para que le hagan compañía.

And at the other side of the world we find Daenerys and her "charming" dragons. Is she ever going to realize that they aren't so nice as before? The work of the khalessi is harder than ever: she has ahead of her 163 milles to Meereen and 163 slaves crucified. Luckily for her, she has Daario Naharis and Grey Worm to make company to her. 

Por último, terminemos con la pareja del año. Arya y The Hound hacen un dúo increíble. Arya tiene nuevo destino: el de su tía Lysa en el valle de Arryn. Pero por el camino, ¿qué mejor que cargarse a uno de su lista negra y recuperar así a su preciada Needle? Desde luego nos están dejando claro que Arya no es la niña pequeña que conocimos en Winterfell hace tanto. 

Finally, let's end with the best couple. Ary and The Hound make such an incredible duo. Arya has a new destiny: her aunt Lysa in the Vally. But in the meantime, why don't kill someone of her black list and take her sword Needle back? It's pretty obvious she's not the little girl we met back at Winterfell so long ago. 

Y como siempre, acabo con una pequeña sección dedicada a los lectores de la saga - o a aquellos que nos les importe qué pasa en los libros -. Para empezar, la bisexualidad de Oberyn. Aunque esto no viene en el libro, ¿quién se esperaba algo diferente de un personaje de GoT? Si no hubiera salido una teta antes de los 5 primeros minutos algo fallaba. Se admite. 

And as always, I'll end with a little section for those of you that have read the book - or that don't give a fuck about them -. The bisexuality of Oberyn. Well, it doesn't appear in the book, but who expected something different from a character of GoT? If there hadn't appeared a boob before the first 5 minutes, it wouldn't have been Game of Thrones. 

He oído muchas críticas acerca de la escena de Arya en la posada, ya que en el libro no es ella la que mata a Polliver sino The Hound, y además este sale herido de la pelea. Para empezar, deciros que por lo visto en esta cuarta temporada nos van a cambiar varios detalles de la serie para conseguir que los lectores nos sorprendamos también, así que ya estáis avisados. Además, nos están haciendo ver ya que Arya no es la niña pequeña que era, que está cambiando y tiene su lado oscuro. Por último, puede que o The Hound esté herido pero no haya dado muestras de ello en este capítulo o que lo hieran más adelante en otra pelea, pero dudo que se salten esa parte importantísima del libro.

I have heard a lot of critics agains the scene of Arya in the inn since in the book she's not the one that kills Polliver but the Hound, and he also ends up hurt from the fight. Well, it has been said that in this fourth season some details will be changed so the readers can be surprised as well, so you are warned. Also, they are trying to make us see how much Arya has changed and that she also has a dark side. And finally, the Hound might be hurt and he hasn't showed it up, or maybe he will be hurt in another fight farther on, but I believe they won't just ignore that important part of the book. 

Como último detalle, la escena de Dontos con Sansa no es precisamente así, ya que él le dice primero que le va a ayudar a escapar. Quizás simplemente estén retrasando esa escena o quizás hayan decidido prescindir de Dontos como mediador. ¿Significa esto que no veremos a Lady Olenna alabando la bisutería de Sansa en la famosa boda? 

And finally, the scene of Ser Donton with Sansa isn't precisely like that in the books, since he first tells her that he will help her scape. Maybe they are just delaying the scene or maybe he won't be in the middle of you-know-who and Sansa's scape. Does this mean that we won't see Lady Olenna saying how beautiful Sansa's jewelry is in the famous wedding? 

En conclusión, buen capítulo de presentación - que siempre es necesaria en esta serie porque sino te pierdes que da gusto -. Y para aquellos que habéis exclamado "¡Pero si no ha pasado nada! ¡Qué aburrido!" no os preocupéis, que en el siguiente capítulo tenemos la boda de Joffrey y Margaery que os prometo que no va a dejar a nadie indiferente. 

As a conclusion, it's such a good episode for a presentation - and it's obvious that a presentation is needed in this series because if there isn't you get lost quite easily -. And for those of you that think that it has been a boring episode, don't you worry, cause I believe the next episode will be funny enough for all of you, cause we have Joffrey and Margaery's wedding!
