The Walking Dead - S04E08 Midseason finale

¡Pues seguid leyendo!

It seems impossible that we are already in the equator of the fourth season of The Walking Dead, but the eight episode, "Too Far Gone", was the end of the quality increase that we've seen during this fourth season - specially if we compare it with the two season before -. Also, it was the last episode before the classic midseason stop, and unfortunately we won't see any episodes till the 9th of February. Have you seen the episode? Then keep reading!

At the beginning of the episode we could see a Governor that was more alike to the one we met last season. He manages to convince his new group that the only way to survive is to take that prison, and that they are going to do it without spreading any blood. We said it wasn't vengeance, but we know that he hasn't forgotten for one day what happened to him.

When things were starting to go better in the prison - who remembers that the 80% of the people that lived there are dead? Maggie and Glenn are about to have sex! -, the Governor shows up with two prisoners: Hershel and Michonne. He threatens to kill them both if they don't leave peacefully the prison, leaving them the place to live.

Rick has to be the leader again - he had to do it at some point, enough of being a farmer -. He's the one in charge to speak with the Governor and convince him that the only solution is to live all together - live together, die alone, where have I heard that before? - and that they are both able to forget the past.

After a touching speech that is probably the best that has come out of Rick's mouth in the whole series, the Governor doesn't believe him. What no one expected is that we was going to take Michonne's katana and tear Hershel's head off. I don't know about you, but I couldn't close my mouth for two minutes. Really hardcore, even for being TWD. Specially when he keeps attacking the dead body. The Governor is back. And if you didn't believe it, you just had to see how calmly he shoots the girl he swore to protect in the head.

The shooting starts, and with the confusion Michonne manages to scape. The tank - where the hell has this tank been all along?! - they destroy the fence, making this refuge completely useless. With the noise the zombies start to come, and between the shooting, the zombies and the punches no one survives.

Finally, finally, they kill the Governor. Michonne kills him with her katana just when he was about to kill Rick. Let's hope that he's not hunting them now as a zombie, although I do believe that he won't be as annoying as alive! Everybody has run away, but in the confusion they have forgotten the baby seat, which is now full of blood and childless… Where the hell is Judith? Is she really dead?

All this makes me wonder a couple of questions… I don't doubt the plot is great, but… couldn't Rick tell the Governor that he accepted the deal and kill them all behind their backs while he "packed"? Or maybe, taking into consideration that the prison was infected and that it wouldn't serve them even if they won, couldn't he just accept the deal and give them a couple of antibiotics as a welcome gift? Just wondering.

¿Y Carol? ¿Cuándo va a volver?

Isn't any one going to speak about the psychopath that lives with them and that made that weird thing that Tyreese found? Let's hope that he/she died in the killing! And what about Carol? When is she coming back?

I would like to highlight the moment when Carol's "girls" save Tyreese. When you see that he's saved, the last person you expect to see is a girl with a gun. And so did the shooter, since she was in shock when she saw her and received in exchange a shoot in the head.

And what about the future of the season? The good part of all this is that we are going to be back in the street, without a prison to protect them, so the writers will be obliged to make it more exciting and we won't suffer a "farm 2.0". Also, each episode has run away separately, so they are all lost in an age without Whatsapp… How are they going to find each other? I'm afraid we'll have to wait to hear all this answer till February. In the meantime, here's the promo and the sneak peek of the next episode, S04E09 "Here We Remain".
