Game of Thrones - S03E01 Valar Dohaeris

We had been waiting one year. The fact of having read the book - those of us who had - wouldn't calm us down, but increased our curiosity because we knew what was about to come. Well, the premiere of the third season came, and the episode didn't disappoint. The first episode has been basically a way to remind us where the characters where at the end of last season and what's waiting for them in this one. Do you wanna have a look at it? Spoilers-free, I promise!

Jodido, ¿verdad? Pues eso. A callar. Ya aparecerán en el siguiente.

I have read many complaints about the lack of Arya, Bran, Rickon Stark and Jaime Lannister in the first episode. I would like you to get the 300 pages that correspond to this part and try to make it fit in 50 minutes. Quite fucked up, right? Well, that's what I was saying. So shut the fuck up. They'll appear in the next episode, don't you worry.

Firstly, we have Tyrion, who seems to be a pain in the ass for the rest of the Lannisters. No one have thanked him for saving King's Landing, or for replacing his nephew at the battle, or for receiving that axe in the face - despite his suspects of who ordered it, btw -. Not satisfied with all this, his father makes fun of him for wanting Casterly Rock and express all his hate to his own son. Is Tyrion going to shut up and do nothing? Don't think so.

At the other side of King's Landing, we gotta Littlefinger, who seems willingly to help Sansa go back home. But remember that the last time a Stark believed in him he ended up with his head in a pike. And the substitute of Sansa as the next wife of the beloved Joffrey, Margaery, isn't only beautiful and charming, but also devoted to charity. To good to be true.

In the east we have Dragonstone, in which inocents are being burn for opposing Melisandre. And what about Stannis? He is completely consumed by the thoughts of this woman, unrecognizable even for Davos, who tries to kill the Red Woman and ends locked up - of course -.

At the north, Robb and Catelyn Stark have reached Harrenhal, where they find the slaughter Gregor Clegane did with the Starks. Catelyn ends locked up again, since she had set free Jaimie Lannister last season. She'd better not have had kids, huh?

And if you keep going north, and then a little bit more, you will be almost where Jon Snow is. After meeting Mance, the leader of the Free Folk, Jon tells him what he saw at Craster's house, convincing him he's a turncloak. At the same time, his brothers of the Night's Watch are running away back to the Wall.

And lastly, at the other continent, Daenerys has managed to make the Dothraki cross the poison water and reach Astapor, where she wants to buy a slave army, the Unsullied. Remarkable the appearance of Barristan Selmy, who's identity isn't revealed till much later in the books.

For those of you who have read the books - or for those that doesn't give a fuck of spoilers -, it seems that this season is more similar to the books than the last one. As I said before, they have anticipated the identity of Selmy, which was obvious. Also they must want to save some money, 'cause the Night's Watch's battles have disappeared. And lastly, it's normal they have finally used Littlefinger now, 'cause the story of the buffoon didn't even appear last season. And for the rest, except for some tiny modifications, it's quite the same as the book.

I have enjoyed the episode, it does the function of a presentation for what's coming - which is much -. Next week we'll have the second episode, which is titled "Dark Wings, Dark Words", and whose promo is below.
